The signs of hearing loss can be subtle and emerge slowly, or they can be significant and develop suddenly. Either way, there are common indications of hearing loss. At Advanced Audiology, we recommend being aware of the following signs:

  • Have ringing in your ears

Emotionally

  • Stressed or fatigued from straining to hear what others are saying
  • Frustrated with others because you can’t hear, can’t understand or misunderstand them
  • Nervous about trying to hear and understand
  • You are removing yourself from social situations you once enjoyed
  • Medically
  • Have a family history of hearing loss
  • Take medications that harm the hearing system (ototoxic drugs)
  • Have diabetes, heart, circulation or blood pressure issues
  • Exposed to very loud sounds over a long period of time or single explosive sound
